A Study about Criterion-related Validity of Korean-type Social Exclusiveness Scale(KSES)

Abstract

|
This Study purposed to test criterion-related validity of Korean-type Social Exclusiveness Scale(KSES 2012). For this purpose, the criteria is “alienation” that is similar to the context of social exclusion` concept. To test the criterion-related validity of KSES, I selected Park(1996)`s alienation indicator that developed based on Seeman`s studies. I found the strong correlation within alienation indicator and KSES. Alienantion indicator include 5 sub-categories; powerlessness, meaningless, normlessness, social isolation, and self-estrangement. These sub-categories correlated with KSES` domains. In case of normlessness, it had weak correlation with KSES` domains. But, the problem is solved through the analysis of t-test. Through this research, the crierion-related validity of KSES is tested.
